The Creation, Loss, Discovery, Denial, Discovery, Loss, and Discovery of Cave Art. Alternatively reviled as a crude hoax, attacked as a religious conspiracy, and deeply admired as great artistic achievements, prehistoric cave art has continued to defy interpretation since its rediscovery in the late 19th century. Media historian Peter Walsh's lecture, taken from a book in progress, explores the history of European cave art and its relationship to the revolutions in media of today.
