On Sunday, September 28, over 1,000 supporters, patients and family members will walk a five-mile route in South Boston to raise awareness and funds for the American Liver Foundation (ALF). One in ten Americans has liver disease and liver cancer is the fastest growing type of cancer. Over 15,000 children in the U.S. are hospitalized every year with pediatric liver disease, while ten to 20 percent of adults have fatty liver disease, a byproduct of obesity.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Day Boulevard, across from Moakley Park. Meteorologist Matt Noyes of New England Cable News will emcee the kick-off at 10 a.m. and Kiss 108 and Jamn’ 94.5 will be on site for music, great giveaways and contests. Participants will travel a scenic route around Castle Island and enjoy post-walk refreshments. To register for the walk or to make a donation, please visit liverfoundation.org/walk call Laura Dempsey at (617) 527-5600.
