Join Boston Cares for August's Understanding Our World: Presidential Politics: Campaigning and the Media. This will be the first in a three part series that will focus on the upcoming presidential campaign as a way to understand the world around us in a different way.
As interest and excitement continue to grow about the 2008 presidential election, Boston Cares is happy to invite Professor Michael Goldman from Tufts University to begin this three part series. In light of the recent New Yorker cover depicting Obama and his wife, Michelle and the controversy it caused, Prof. Goldman will address the satirical intention of the New Yorker and how the politics of fear plays within presidential campaigns. In addition, he will discuss the role the media plays within presidential campaigns and the role it has in shaping our perceptions of the candidates. Lastly, the evening will end with a discussion about the two presidential candidates and the campaign to date.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the presidential campaign and the role the media plays throughout the process.
