After going from lawyer to folk singer to minister, the Rev. Fred Small is back in Cambridge, singing. This time his concert is not going on the road and there will be only one a year. The proceeds will benefit the fund for diversity and accessibility at his congregation, First Parish in Cambridge (Unitarian Universalist).
Named by Pete Seeger as one of America's best songwriters, Fred Small "sings songs of conscience in the tradition of Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton. Powerful, affecting, and inviting, Fred's songs illuminate the goodness and courage of all kinds of people," according to one of his fan websites. Sharing the message of love, unity, and respect for others and the environment, you will be lifted and moved by his words and music.
The concert will be at First Parish, 3 Church Street in Harvard Square at 7:30 on Friday, June 1. Tickets may be purchased at the church, at brownpapertickets.com, or 800-838-3006. There will be a raffle and an auction for an original manuscript. CDs and refreshments will be sold during the intermission. The church is wheelchair accessible and the performance will be ASL interpreted.
