Compelling movement presents work by three artists with various interpretations of how the 'unseen or hidden' expresses itself on canvas. The artists, Carmela Cattuti, Ashley Bostrom, and Christina Murphy seize power from abstract realms by incorporating their experiences with the medium and the movement found in their work.

The three artists each apply their personal energy towards designing individual forms: Forms emerge from primal energy in Ashley Bostrom's paintings such as Air, Fire, and Land in which images seem to extend their world into the viewer's space. In Christina Murphy's mixed media work, Multidimensional Dance, we witness how landscapes remain unseen by the physical eye.

Energy, or compelling movement as the exhibition title maintains is what contains the formal arrangements found here, from the most abstract renderings in Bostrom and Murphy to Cattuti's more figurative work. Cattuti's portraits in particular demonstrate a state of being at one fixed moment in time that arrests energy while submitting to a personality at the same time.

The paintings by Cattuti, Bostrom, and Murphy all seek to create an atmosphere of contemplation through invigorating movement. Three c0mpelling different voices speak to each other in a language that is both individual and universal.
