Everyday isn't Valentine's Day in marriage with the responsibilities of children, jobs, family, and health concerns weighing on couples. Our own idiosyncratic habits and ways of coping with stress add another ingredient. How do we find the place, the time and the energy to maintain a connection, while keeping the passion and love alive that drew us from infatuation to marriage. This workshop will draw on my experiences in over the past 30 years working with couples and individuals on their marriages. We will look at what actions strengthen marriages and what behaviors can be fatal.
Michael A. Ruben, LICSW, BCD is a psychotherapist who has practiced on the south shore at Brookside Counseling Associates. He has degrees from Oberlin College and Columbia University and has been working with couples and individuals for over 30 years. He has taught at Wheelock College in their Center for Parenting Studies and Family Studies program. He is happily married to his wife, Kelly Easton, an author of children and young adult books.
