Mary Keenan, a Tufts alum, will discuss her book, In Haste, Julia, which tells the story of Julia Robbins Barrett (1819–1900) of Lexington & Concord. Robbins Barrett was interested in the political & theological issues of her day, and became active in the abolitionist cause. After studying at the Boston School of Design, Robbins Barrett worked as one of the Lowell Company’s few women carpet designers. She was a staunch advocate throughout her life, continuing her social activism until her death.
