George Winston

George Winston's 1980 release, a simple, clear recording of piano solos called Autumn, launched a musical genre with all the lyrical power and poignancy of a master. Crafting a unique "folk piano" style that blends traditional American folk music with the instrumental pop/R&B that he grew up with, George Winston's hypnotic pieces suggest the play of color and light, the comfortable melancholy and icy clarity of the seasons.
