The State Theatre Regional Arts Center at New Brunswick exists to enrich the lives of people from diverse backgrounds in New Jersey and to contribute to a vital urban environment by presenting the finest national and international performing artists; providing arts education programs to inform and build future audiences; providing a major performing arts venue in central New Jersey that encourages and enables members of the community to have a life-long association with the performing arts.

The State Theatre is a magnificently renovated 1921 1800-seat vaudeville theater presenting a diversity of world-class events including international orchestras, Broadway musicals, jazz productions, dance ensembles, touring operas, country music, educational programs, children's events, world music, a film series, and more. The concert hall attracts over 300,000 patrons each year from all 21 counties in New Jersey as well as from Pennsylvania and New York.

When not presenting its own performances, the State Theatre is made available to a number of community, civic, and performing arts organizations on a rental basis. The State Theatre's main floor is wheelchair accessible. An assistive listening system for patrons who are hard of hearing and large print programs are available for most events.
