The Birds Of Appleton Farms And Grass Rides

Appleton Farms and Grass Rides, located in Ipswich and Hamilton, are owned by The Trustees of Reservations. These magnificent properties encompass 963 acres of mixed habitats including pine/oak forests, forest edges, wet meadows, and extensive grasslands. During our field trip, we will take a leisurely walk along several well-maintained trails, looking for a variety of bird species, including the scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeak, eastern bluebird, Baltimore oriole, eastern meadowlark, bobolink, indigo bunting, and many species of migrating wood-warblers. This program offers a great opportunity to explore one of the North Shore's most beautiful conservation areas and to learn about its birds. During our outing, we will discuss and practice the many aids to field identification.
