The Suzuki School of Newton, a non-profit community school, located at 225 Nevada Street, is opening an integrated arts preschool program this fall. The program is designed for children three to five years old on a ten-month calendar year.
The Suzuki Preschool is modeled after the internationally known Dr. Sinichi Suzuki in Japan. The philosophy of the school affirms the importance of cognitive, language, social and psycho motor skills. The focus of the preschool is to develop a lifelong love of learning, by nurturing each child's natural talent and ability in partnership with parents. The integrated creative arts program incorporates foreign languages, Suzuki music instruction, art and creative movement.
Marlene Lerer, the Association Director of the school, has worked with Dr. Suzuki in preparing preschool programs using the Suzuki Philosophy. Marlene has designed and operated many Suzuki programs in the United States. Her experience will provide a strong backbone for the school. She received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education and an M.Ed. from Ohio State and Cleveland State Universities.
Lisa Kideckel, the Preschool Director/Lead Teacher, has over 25 years experience of observing and guiding young children through their preschool years. Lisa received her B.S. in Child Development from Cornell University and an M.Ed. from the University of Maryland and has Director II Certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
