Olympic Birding Boot Camp - for families

Who: Parents/guardians and their 2nd thru 5th graders. Junior participants and adults must be enthusiastic and keen to burn energy on long walks under trying conditions and to develop a strong sense of camaraderie. What: Competitive sport birding activities with small but desirable prizes for best performance on the following activities. Judge's decision is final (and inclusive so everyone wins): Activities: -Weekly trips and walks at local hot spots - winter beaches, woods, windblown fields, etc. (MVP is the participant with the best sighting or observation or application of a learned point) -Weekly Drills with Homework assignments - learning visual and habitat ID skills, learning calls, nature awareness skills, staying dry and warm -Buiild a feeder (prizes for most creative and most functional) -Buiild a bird house (prizes for all) -Participate in Bird-A-Thon team (prizes for family that raises most funds and family with most sightings on the day) Registration is required.
