Come join the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the Northeast Belly Dance Association(NBDA) for a day of introductory workshops and a family-friendly evening show at “Veiled in the Shadows - A Haunted Hafla” on Saturday, October 25 at the Oxford Community Center, 4 Maple Road(just off Main Street), Oxford, MA, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The evening dance showcase will begin at 6:00 PM. There will be vendors with a variety of dance and costuming items for sale - great way to round out your Halloween wardrobe - as well as a Chinese auction. All proceeds will go to UNICEF.
Your entrance fee of $15 includes a day full of workshops as well as your ticket to the evenings show showcasing various styles of belly dance performed by local dancers and troupes. Tickets to the evening show only, beginning at 6PM, are $5. Workshops have something for everyone, including the use of props in dance, dancing with veil, folkloric dancing with cane, an introduction to drumming, an introduction to Tribal Improvisational style dance, and proper application of stage performance make-up for various venues. Whether you are new to the dance, an experienced dancer, or someone who took a few classes once and wants to learn more, this event is for you.
The NBDA is a social organization comprised of self-sufficient chapters that exists to support the belly dance community throughout New England and neighboring north east states. Our ongoing mission is to maintain a strong communication network amongst chapters in order to support one another through sharing resources and creating performance venues. If you decide to join the NBDA at the event, you will receive a discount on your full day admission! We look forward to seeing you!
