Acharya Gaylon Ferguson, PhD is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage and author of the new book Natural Wakefulness, Discovering the Wisdom We Were Born With. A graduate of Exeter, Yale, and Stanford University, he received a doctorate in cultural anthropology at Stanford. He has led meditation retreats for 30 years. He is currently a professor at Naropa University and also taught cultural anthropology at Stanford University and the University of Washington. His article, “Making Friends with Ourselves,” was selected for inclusion in The Best Buddhist Writing 2005.
