Practical Ophthalmology - Port City

Title: Practical Ophthalmology & Wet Lab

Synopsis:
This continuing education seminar is to provide background on, and a wet lab for, basic diagnostic techniques for ophthalmology cases.  Both indentation and applanation tonometry will be covered. 
Patient cooperation/ handling and operator factors that result in falsely elevated readings will be discussed. 
Tear film measures and interpretation is necessary for understanding dry eye cases.  Direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy will be discussed and limited instrumentation will be provided to perform these techniques.  Fluorescein and Rose Bengal staining will be discussed.
It is requested that participants bring their own tonometers and lenses if possible.  This will allow Dr. Cassotis to ensure readings obtained are trustworthy.
Animals will not be provided by Dr. Cassotis for this wet lab and limited lecture. Please feel free to bring your own well behaved, leashed (or crated) pet.
