at Old Town Hall, Salem, MA
Price: $10 regular, $5 students
Phone: (978) 867-4767
Age Suitability: Kids and up

The diarist and irrepressible gossip Rev. William Bentley (aka Donald Friary), returns to Salem to discuss his life as Pastor to the East Parish from 1783 to 1819. Dr. Bentley will discuss the people he knew, including the Derbys and Crowninshields, when Salem was at its peak, trading at ports around the globe. He will also recall the darker side of life in Salem – the disabled mariners and impoverished widows he visited in their waterfront lodgings and in the almshouse on Salem Neck.
