Open Blues Jam

Open Blues Jam The Boston area has been a haven for blues enthusiasts for as long as anyone can remember. And, for over a quarter-century, the longest running area Blues Jam takes place right here at Johnny D’s. Young and old, veteran or just starting out, there is a spot for all on our Sunday afternoon jams. And because the Blues is a wide spread idiom, we make a point of welcoming both electric and acoustic, Delta, Chicago, Piedmont, rural or citified, all are invited. There is always a host to help coordinate the activities and take a few laps. For the past while, “Monster” Mike Welch holds down that chair, but over the years such luminaries as Tim Gearan and Susan Tedeschi have maintained that position. So come on down, listen and learn, jump up and take part, whatever you’re comfortable with, just have fun.
