Introduction to Adobe Illustrator

Description:
This class will cover the absolute basics of the Adobe Illustrator vector graphics software. Vector graphics are an incredibly useful tool, used to create infinitely scalable logos/graphics and importable into 3D applications for extrusion modeling and even for creating tool paths for CNC machinery. Over the course of four weeks, students will be guided through the many uses and best practices for creating and managing vector objects and files.
Class Goals:
Students will start out learning the basics of Illustrator: when to use it, and how to navigate the terms and interface.
Students will apply this knowledge to a few simple projects, including making a silhouette of a person or thing from a photograph, and creating a simple design from a concept image.
Students will also learn how to output files for interfacing with other software in a number of common practices .
By the end of the course, students should be comfortable with all the basic tools necessary to be able to take a variety of projects from start to finish on their own.
Prerequisites:
Students should have basic computer skills.
Materials:
Students should bring a few sample photos and some design sketches. These don't need to be original pieces, and there will be some available, provided by the instructor.
