For the Birds: An Introduction to Nature Painting for Beginners

Ever wanted to try your hand as an artist? Join Mass Audubon naturalist and artist Johnathon Larson to discover more about the process and techniques involved in creating both an accurate and artistic depiction of birds, insects, and other amazing things found in nature. The class will begin with a short introduction to the types of paint and brushes that are used, followed by a demonstration in layout techniques and inclusion of accurate natural history elements. Participants will learn about the importance of habitat, behavior, and field marks as well as several painting basics including washes, overlay, color theory, perspective, and proportion. This class is appropriate for complete beginners to intermediates, and will focus primarily on acrylic painting. Registration is required. Call (978) 887-9264 for details.
